Phishing attacks continue to be one of the top Internet security threats, costing companies and individuals billions of dollars every year. Over 100 million phishing messages get through spam filters everyday costing brands and estimated 70.2 billion. The estimated for each brand is roughly 2,000 dollars for each phishing attack. The Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformation (DMARC) specification, co-developed by Return Path and a consortium of email senders, ISPs, and security vendors, is focused on putting an end these attacks. By leveraging existing email authentication technologies SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail), DMARC enables email senders to empower all ISPs with the ability to report as well as monitor, quarantine, or reject any email that is not appropriately authenticated.
