Ok so i have downloaded GIMP and have no idea how to divide/slice a photo. Every tutorial online is available for photoshop. can't find the tutorial on how to divide a photo into 3rds using GIMP. This thread discusses this issue.

I have to slice my .png into three pieces in such a way that I can splice the image back together in my HTML file. It's important that I not see any seams. How can this be done with GIMP?
